Was haben die ATL-Twins, Cara Delevingne und Marylin Manson gemeinsam? Richtig! Sie sind alle im neuen DIE ANTWOORD Video zu sehen. "Ugly Boy" heißt der neue Track und zeigt, wie wir es von all oben genannten bereits kennen, den Mut zur "Hässlichkeit", aber auch die besondere Ästhetik die in ihr liegt.
ENG: What do the ATL-Twins, Cara Delevingne and Marylin Manson have in common? Right! They are all in the new DIE ANTWOORD Video. The new track is called "Ugly Boy" and is about daring to be ugly, and the aesthetics that lies in it.
In ordentlicher "Die Antwoord" Manier werden wir durch eine knallbunte, blutverschmierte White Trash Welt gejagt. Schon der Titel wird am Anfang mit einer verdächtig anmutenden, roten Substanz von Bandmitglied "Ninja" an die weiße Wand gemalt. Dann schaltet Yo-Landi sich ein und schon geht der Höllentripp los.
ENG: Like we already know it from Die Antwoord we are smashed into a multicolored, blood-smeared, trash world. The video begins with band member „ninja“ writing the title with red fluid onto a white wall. Then Yo-Landi joins him and the hellride is about to start.
Die Ästhetik liegt irgendwo zwischen Tarantino, der 8 Mile, wilden Gothphantasiem und KTZ. Inzwischen ein kalkuliertes Erfolgsrezept bei der südafrikanischen Kombo die man irgemdwie nicht so richtig unterordnen kann. Zu "arty" und strange um es reinen Pop zu nennen, zu gut und professionell um die beiden "Rapper" einer Kunstrichtung zuzuordnen. Dadaistischer-Pop-Art-Trash-Pop trifft es vielleicht noch am ehesten doch wenn wir mal ehrlich sind: Gerade diese Unfähigkeit, die Antwoord irgendwo zuzordnen und in eine Schublade zu stecken macht Die Antwoord doch zu soetwas interessantem und erfrischenden.
ENG: The aesthetics is between Tarantino, 8 Mile, wild goth-phantasies and KTZ. Meanwhile a calculated success recipe for the South-American combo, who do not fit in any stereotype. You can't pigeonhole them: They are too arty for pop and too professional and good to assign them to any known art movement. Dada-Pop-Art-Trash would describe it best. But honestly: The fact that we always fail to associate them with something we know makes them so interesting and kind of new and fresh.
